Profile
Stan is one of approximately 105 lawyers in the state of Texas who is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is also Martindale-Hubbell “AV” rated. In his 39 years of practice, Stan has represented clients in most of the construction industry’s different sectors in many types of matters. Currently, Stan’s practice mainly involves defending construction industry design professionals in professional liability claims. Based upon the Texas Certificate of Merit Law, Stan has obtained a number of dismissals (with and without prejudice) of professional liability suits filed against his design professional clients.

Preparatory education: Tulane University (B.A. 1977). Legal education: Tulane University School of Law (J.D. 1979). Editor, Tulane Maritime Lawyer, 1977 to 1979.
Experience
Stan began his legal career in 1979 with the New Orleans law firm of Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carrère & Denègre, L.L.P. where he became a partner and later became a partner in charge of the Construction Law Practice Group. In 2000, Stan moved to Dallas where he became a partner of Goins, Underkofler, Crawford & Langdon, L.L.P., where his practice included construction, insurance coverage and insurance defense. In 2004, he joined Capshaw, Goss & Bowers, L.L.P., where his practice concentrated on construction litigation representing owners, contractors and design professionals in the avoidance, prosecution and defense of construction claims. In 2007, he joined Capshaw & Associates where he continues to provide services to the construction industry.
Military Service
Stan proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1973, where he earned a Green Beret and attained the rank of Sergeant. He served with the Seventh Special Forces Group and then with United States Army Special Forces Thailand (“46th Company”).
